The company FlexoFibers Europa SL has obtained the ETA 23/0933 for its steel fibers FLEXOFIBER® FX from the recycling of used tyres, for reinforcing mortars and concrete.
FLEXOFIBER® FX-20 and FLEXOFIBER® FX-25 steel fibers are obtained from recycled tyres (cold drawn filaments with high tensile strength). FLEXOFIBERS selects the fibers, eliminates excess rubber and classifies the fibers by size (length and diameter), to generate two commercial products for reinforcing mortars and concrete:
FLEXOFIBER® FX-20 fibers, with an average length of 22,75 mm (± 5,37 mm).
FLEXOFIBER® FX-25 fibers with an average length of 26,45 mm (± 4,92 mm).
The evaluation of FLEXOFIBER® FX-20 and FX-25 fibers in ETA 23/0933 has been carried out in accordance with EAD 260010-00-0301 Fibers for concrete – steel fibers recovered from end-of-life tyres, and covers the characterization of the tensile strength performance of the fibers, their statistical distribution by size, and the evaluation of the effect of the fibers on the consistency (workability) and on the resistance of concrete reinforced with these fibers.
This development is aligned with the Open Innovation Service 1 ‘Standard Framework Procedures for Certification and Marking’ - ‘Establishment of a clear informative path to CE marking’.
