Service Description

PM&VL5 will measure the impact of advanced envelope components on indoor environmental quality and responses of building occupants primarily focusing on comfort; other responses will also be considered. All four domains of the indoor environment (Thermal, Visual, Acoustic and air quality) will be considered. Most façade products will have an impact on all four domains of the indoor environment. These are thermal, acoustic and visual environment as well as indoor air quality. Installing an operable window will affect the amount of daylight, the indoor temperature will be influenced due to solar radiation and heat transmission through the window. The air quality will be influenced by the tightness of the window and by the window operation thanks to dilution ventilation. Finally, the acoustic environment will be influenced by noise penetration from the outside. PM&VL5 will attempt to characterize all four components in relation to the advanced façade component (or the entire façade) and subsequent effect on indoor environmental quality and the building occupants’ comfort.
