MOTIVATION FOR PRODUCT TESTING
Assessment of (bio)Polyurethan frames for windows and (bio)Polyurethan insulation foam on indoor environmental quality, complimentary to the results measured within PM&VL6, PM&VL7 and PM&VL8.
Product description
Indresmat's windows: KLIMA-PUR is a new top class in energy-saving windows & doors made from Polyurethane (PUR). Similarly to wooden windows & doors, KLIMA-PUR integrates a high-performance material with a circular design.
Indresmat's insulation foam: is a new type of Polyurethane insulation foam with highly improved fire safety, increased durability, and superior weathering resistance to be used in indoor and outdoor applications.

Building description
3-story building (130 m²) with a traditional ventilated facade, 4-pitch roof made of concrete tiles, 180 m² traditional facade, 3 wooden doors and aluminium windows.
Climate
The temperature generally ranges from 2°C to 29°C and rarely drops below -2°C or rises above 32°C.
Internal climate
Internal climate is between 18 and 27 °C.
Renovation plan
The renovation includes changing of windows and using the ventilation gap in the façade as container for installing (bio)Polyurethan injected foam as additional thermal insulation.

Monitoring Plan

Timeline
Actions
Baseline measurements were performed from August to November 2024
Renovation started in November 2024 when windows were changed, in January 2026 the insulation foam was injected.
Monitoring after the renovation was performed from December 2024 (for windows) and February 2026 (for insulation foam).
POE was done in March 2026 and August 2026.

Residential building before renovation, December 2023.

New windows installed in November 2024.

Monitoring units installed in March 2025.

Results
Post-intervention in-situ measurements show a consistent reduction in U-values across all monitored nodes, indicating substantially improved envelope thermal performance. Thermal transmittance decreased by approximately 50-60%, confirming the effectiveness of the applied retrofit solution.
